Cainhoy Athletic Soccer Club is governed by an executive committee of seven volunteer Board Members, most of whom hold key responsibilities for the organization.

Our Early History

December 2008

Club and landowner met and agreed at a high level to utilize land on Cainhoy Rd for the new facility.

First ‘Board’ Meeting (attended by legal counsel) ratifying By-Laws and other forming documents. Established initial Board of Directors consisting of David Tunesi (President), Chris Hamlin (Treasurer), and Mark Wysong (Director at Large).

Filed with State for Incorporation as Domestic Nonprofit and on December 8th was Incorporated in the State of South Carolina

Filed with The IRS for tax exemption under 501c(3) on December 28th, 2008

January 2009

David Tunesi, Chris Hamlin, and Mark Wysong signed a contract securing 6.1 acres of land on Cainhoy Road for 20 years

Neil Grey joined the Club as Director

February 2009

Jim Merrill joined the Club as Director

April 2009

Filed affiliation paperwork with SCYSA

Formed partnership with the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Trident Area to better serve at risk children

May 2009

Entered partnership with Special Olympics, South Carolina to create a Unified Sports Soccer Program in Berkeley County

Entered relationship with Meeting Street Academy of Charleston to provide soccer program to students

June 2009

Selected as Official Youth Club Partner of the Charleston Battery

Entered our first soccer tournament. June 13th 2009 (3 v 3 at Charleston Southern University): U10 Boys Silver Medal, U12 Boys  Bronze Medal

Received 501 c(3) designation from IRS: Department of Treasury on June 16, 2009

July 2009

Cainhoy Athletic Soccer Club was granted provisional status by the SC Youth Soccer Board of Directors  on July 6th, 2009

Cainhoy Athletic welcomed into LSYSA family.
